Tahira Allahyarova

Vice-Chair of the Board

Tahira Allahyarova graduated from Baku State University (BSU). She started her scientific career at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), where she worked as a leading and senior researcher. She defended her candidate's thesis on "Ecological Culture and Social Progress" and her doctoral thesis on "Social Synergetics as a New Methodological Basis for Social Sciences". She holds a Doctor of Science degree and was appointed Associate Professor of Social Philosophy by the Higher Attestation Commission. In 2018, she was awarded the academic title of Professor in the field of National Security and Humanitarian Sciences by the Higher Military Academy of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan.


From 2009 to 2019, Tahira Allahyarova served as the Head of the Department at the Strategic Studies Center under the President of Azerbaijan. During this period, she also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the international scientific-analytical journal “Strategic Analysis”.


Her professional experience includes active involvement in pedagogy, teaching courses such as Social Psychology at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Sociology of Management at Baku State University, and Strategic Management and Public Administration at the Higher Military Academy of the Ministry of Defense. From 1994 to 2016, she also worked as a lecturer and speaker.


She has held a number of distinguished positions, including Co-Chair of the Dissertation Defense Council at the National Defense University, expert at the Higher Attestation Commission and the National Science Development Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and member of the Coordination Council for Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology at ANAS. She has also been a member of the working group for the development of new curricula in Humanitarian and Social Sciences under the Ministry of Education.


Tahira Allahyarova has participated in numerous international conferences, seminars, and training sessions worldwide. Her academic work covers topics such as the new methodology of social sciences, the transformation of Azerbaijan's political system, political leadership phenomena, and the study of socio-political processes. She has authored over 200 scientific articles, including 16 monographs. These include works such as “T. Allahyarova, Nadine Schouwey and Simon Zurich. She serves as the Deputy Chair of the international editorial board of the Social Research journal, where she has guided the research and studies of four Ph.D. candidates and one Doctor of Science.


Tahira Allahyarova has been recognized for her impactful contributions to Azerbaijan's public and political life. In 2017, she was awarded the Taraggi Medal (Progress Medal), and in 2019, she received the 100 years of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic medal. Since April 2019, she has served as the Director of the Domestic Policy Analysis Department at the Social Research Center and was appointed a member of the Board of Directors in July 2020 by a decree from the President of Azerbaijan. Since 2024, she has held the position of Vice-Chair of the Board.
