Zahid Oruj

CHAİRMAN

Zahid Oruj was born on February 1, 1972 in Gadabay region. After graduating from high school, he entered Azerbaijan Technical University in 1989 and graduated in 1994. After graduating with honors from the Azerbaijan Technical University in 1994, he was admitted the graduate school of the Institute of Photoelectronics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. He worked as a researcher at the Institute of Physics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. He was also one of the excellent student committees of the Azerbaijan Technical University and a member of the scientific council of this higher education institution for 5 years. Mr Oruj has been closely involved in popular movement and national liberation struggle in Azerbaijan since 1990 and is known as one of the leaders of active student organizations. He was elected head of the press service of the Motherland Party, deputy for political affairs in 1992. He was the editor-in-chief of the Ana Vatan newspaper in 1999 and 2000. In 2001, 2005, 2010 and 2015, he was elected a deputy of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the II, III, IV and V convocations from the 93rd Barda city constituency. He is a member of the Security and Defense Committee of the Parliament. He is the head of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan working group on interparliamentary relations, a member of the Azerbaijan-Germany working group on Azerbaijan-Belgium interparliamentary relations. He has been awarded by media organizations and public organizations as one of the 10 most active deputies of the Union of Parliamentary Journalists and the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan. For 10 years, he has been closely involved in various international conferences as a member of the Relations Group of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan-NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He independently nominated his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and submitted his documents to the CEC, thus being released from the ranks of the “Ana Vatan” Party he represented. For 10 years, he has been participated in various international conferences as a member of the Relations Group of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan-NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He independently nominated his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and submitted his documents to the CEC, thus being released from the ranks of the “Ana Vatan” Party he represented in 2013. Mr Oruj is known for his participation presidential elections as an independent candidate in 2018 and for his important views, proposals and ideas in various spheres of life. He has published a series of articles on geopolitics, regional and international politics, as well as the state and public life of Azerbaijan. He received various certificates and the nominations at the International Marshall Center as an active partner in projects implemented under NATO's Partnership for Peace.
