Aytan Babayeva Highlights Azerbaijan’s Regional Influence at Lecture on Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship

On December 24, within the framework of the Global Perspectives Lecture Series organized by the IDD Think Tank of ADA University, H.E. Mr. Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, delivered outcomes and insights on Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025. The lecture highlighted the fundamental principles of Malaysia’s foreign policy, ASEAN centrality, multilateral cooperation frameworks, and the outcomes of the 47th ASEAN Summit. Participants actively engaged in the discussion by raising questions related to the topic and other aspects.

Representing the Social Research Center, Ms. Aytan Babayeva, Head of the Sector for International Cooperation and Development Issues, addressed questions concerning further perspectives in bilateral relations, as well as Azerbaijan’s developments in the region, and the country’s current geopolitical influence on the global stage. Additionally, during the networking segment of the event, the Head of Sector discussed with official attendees on the potential for diversifying Malaysia-Azerbaijan scientific and cultural initiatives, fostering collaboration among academic and research institutions and think tanks, exploring joint approaches, and presenting the activities of the Social Research Center accordingly. Views were also exchanged on sustainable engagements and development directions in the social and public sphere.

It is worth noting that cooperation between Malaysia and Azerbaijan continues to grow across multiple dimensions, including political dialogue, economy, education, science, and culture. Both countries maintain mutual support on international platforms. Additionally, exploring new opportunities to promote institutional partnerships holds one of the impactful forms of connection.
