An international conference titled “Deepening Cooperation among OIC Member States” was held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, under the auspices of the Organization of Islamic Youth (OIY). The event served as an important platform for strengthening solidarity across the Islamic world and advancing cooperation to a new stage. The gathering brought together official representatives and government officials from member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as young leaders and heads of public organizations.
Azerbaijan was represented at the event by Tural Ismailov, senior advisor at the Social Research Center (SRC) and political analyst. His speech was among the highlights of the conference and drew considerable attention from many participants. In his address, Mr. Ismailov emphasized that the future of the Islamic world should rest not only on cultural solidarity but also on stronger cooperation in the fields of science, technology, economy, and information.
In his remarks, he highlighted Azerbaijan’s recent regional achievements, particularly its experience in the fields of information and diplomacy, presenting them as examples of effective practice. Moreover, he noted that establishing a joint scientific platform among Islamic countries, fostering cooperation in youth diplomacy and information exchange, and preserving cultural heritage are essential steps toward achieving long-term strategic goals. According to him, Azerbaijan’s experience serves as a model for planning and implementing such initiatives.
Key points of Mr. Ismailov’s address included the development of scientific and technological collaboration, strengthening joint activity within the information space of Islamic countries, organizing diplomatic and strategic training programs for young leaders, safeguarding cultural heritage, and promoting green energy initiatives. The political analyst emphasized that the exchange of young professionals and scholars forms a vital foundation for mutual trust and sustainable development across the Islamic world.
He underlined the importance of adapting Azerbaijan’s experience to the cooperation models of Islamic countries and stressed the need to advance joint projects in science, education, healthcare, and media.
At the conclusion of the event, participants agreed to pursue joint initiatives, promote the exchange of experience, and support youth-led projects.
Among the speakers were Sardar Yasir Ilyas, representative of Pakistan’s Prime Minister; Syed Mustafa Kamal, Minister of Health; and Hammad Kakar, president of OIY. They emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts among Islamic countries in the areas of science, education, healthcare, and economic development, while also highlighting the value of shared initiatives aimed at empowering young leaders.
The event concluded with the presentation of honorary plaques to participants by Pakistan’s Minister of Health.
